Road performance
Low-profile designs, ventilation and fit systems for training, events and long UAE rides.
Italian helmet specialists combining performance, fit and safety research across road, mountain, urban and everyday cycling.
MET focuses on helmets: developing protection, ventilation, fit and aerodynamic solutions for different riding disciplines. CSD’s partner pages are designed to explain the product—not simply display its logo.
Low-profile designs, ventilation and fit systems for training, events and long UAE rides.
Different helmet models address different disciplines, budgets, fit preferences and features.
A helmet should sit level, remain secure and be correctly adjusted for the individual rider.

Mips stands for Multi-Directional Impact Protection System. It is an additional safety technology inside a helmet, designed to help manage the rotational motion that may be transferred to the head during certain angled or oblique impacts.
A thin liner or slip plane sits inside the helmet. Its exact construction varies between helmet models.
During certain angled impacts, the system is designed to allow a small amount of relative movement—often described as around 10–15 mm.
That movement is intended to help redirect rotational forces that might otherwise be transferred to the head.
Rotational motion is associated with concussion and brain injury. Mips may reduce harmful rotational motion in some impacts, but no helmet can prevent every concussion or injury.

Certification standards establish a minimum pass-or-fail requirement. Virginia Tech’s Helmet Lab adds an independent, cycling-specific comparison by testing how individual bicycle helmets perform across multiple impact locations and energies.
The bicycle STAR method uses 24 laboratory impacts and measures both linear acceleration and rotational velocity—two measures associated with concussion risk. The results are converted into a score and a one-to-five-star rating; a lower score and more stars indicate better performance within the bicycle test programme.
Virginia Tech recommends choosing a four- or five-star bicycle helmet. The rating helps compare tested models, but it does not make any helmet concussion-proof. Correct fit, secure adjustment, appropriate riding behaviour and replacing a damaged helmet still matter.
Independent-rating information was checked against the Virginia Tech Helmet Lab in October 2026.
