Event FAQs.

Practical answers before you register, train and arrive. Final instructions always come from the official event organiser and rider guide.

01When and where is the 2027 Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge?

The Main Event is scheduled for Sunday, 7 February 2027 at Expo City Dubai–Al Forsan Park. The event weekend is listed as 6–7 February, so check the final rider guide for race-pack, village, access and start arrangements.

02Do I need to qualify before entering?

No. The organiser states that riders do not need to qualify to enter the Main Event. It is a seeded event and the current minimum average speed is 26 km/h, so choose the correct category and use the build-up rides to test readiness and improve seeding.

03What are the build-up rides?

The official 2026–27 schedule lists four Al Qudra build-up rides: 37 km on 13 September 2026, 45 km on 18 October 2026, 65 km on 22 November 2026 and 85 km on 9 January 2027. They build distance and speed and help establish Main Event seeding.

04What bicycle and equipment can I use?

The current rules allow traditional bicycles, tandems and recumbent bicycles that are fully human powered. Disc brakes are permitted; e-bikes, motors, time-trial bikes, aero bars, TT bars and solid disc wheels are not. A helmet is compulsory, and headphones and mobile-phone use while riding are prohibited.

05How does seeding work?

Seeding uses relevant event results, including build-up rides and prior Main Event data. Riders may be allowed to move back to a later group but cannot move forward into a faster group than their allocation. The organiser confirms the final process and start format closer to race day.

06How do I qualify for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships?

If you are aged 19 or over and enter the Main Event or Invitational/Elite category, you can be eligible. The top 25% in each age category is calculated using the combined results from licensed Invitational/Elite and open non-licensed start groups. Age categories use the rider’s age on 31 December 2027.

The event organiser controls the final qualification rules and results. Read the official rider guide and confirmation before relying on a qualifying position.

07Where and when are the 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships?

The championship is planned for Haute-Savoie in the French Alps in August 2027. Published date ranges are not fully consistent across current event references, so qualified riders should wait for official UCI confirmation before booking travel.
